Greener Grass

There is a simple line in the Nauvoo Pageant that has caught my ear each time I have seen it since 2005..."This sweet green..." Parley P. Pratt recalls his journey home each night through the same patch of grass that close to 2000 people sit on and watch this story unfold on a simple outdoor wooden stage. This story is one of Hope, Trials, Sorrow and the Sweetest Joy of a simple people who served, loved, and prayed together. Each time, I hear those words I think "Of course, that was a 'sweet green' because of all that happened there." That place was consecrated through the trials, love, and faith of those pioneers and in turn the Lord blessed them with miracle after miracle.

I often feel the same way about my own life...that my life journey can be described as a "sweet green" because of all the blessings that have been poured upon me through the sacrifices of so many others. When Father says I will "pour out the blessings of heaven" I truly think he was talking to me. As I look at my mother, my brothers and sisters, and the countless friends that have carried me along the way...they have consecrated my journey and it has been truly greener grass than I could ever have made for myself. And because of them I get to wend my way... through, that :sweet green," each day.

I am forever grateful...
